How our reporting is produced

Our publication process combines source research, original writing and separate checks before an article can appear.

Last updated:

01

Find and group relevant coverage

We read the current coverage of the edition’s media catalogue, group reports about the same event and look for missing references. The system consults existing collected coverage before expanding research through web search.

02

Read and assess evidence

Ordinary news requires at least five relevant references from at least three independent news sources. Reproductions of the same agency dispatch or press release are not separate lines of evidence. Material claims must be supported by the required corroboration.

03

Write an original account

The article should explain the event and all relevant, corroborated details, not reproduce a source’s wording or narrate our research process. It must distinguish facts from allegations, announcements and predictions.

04

Review separately

We check factual support, bias, clickbait, coherence, originality and commercial conflicts. A repair is reviewed again. A disagreement does not automatically block publication: the system assesses independent corroboration and documented primary evidence.

05

Create useful visuals

Visuals are created after the text passes its checks. They should add information rather than repeat another chart or component. Maps use verified geometry rather than generated geography; licensed photographs retain their attribution.

06

Publish and maintain

News selection gives greater weight to public relevance and fresh reporting, with prominence declining over time. Updates and corrections are recorded. A published article remains in the archive even after it leaves the homepage.
