Pope Leo XIV discharged four days after lung surgery

Pope Leo XIV left Rome’s Agostino Gemelli Polyclinic on Saturday, four days after surgeons removed the lower lobe of his right lung. The operation confirmed adenocarcinoma, a common form of lung cancer. His doctors deemed him fit for discharge after reviewing blood tests, a chest X-ray and his clinical condition. Further tests were pending to establish whether the cancer had spread and whether more treatment would be needed.
