Who is responsible

The controller is DealShopping LLC, publisher of Mérito. Its identification and address appear below. Use the contact form for privacy enquiries or to exercise an applicable data protection right.

Information processed

Technical requests can include an IP address, browser information and session data. Internal article-read statistics use a daily pseudonymous IP fingerprint, not a stored raw IP, and retain a limited origin category or referring domain rather than complete referring URLs or search terms. Contact forms contain the information you submit. Newsletter records include your email, consent and confirmation dates, delivery history and unsubscribe status.

Purposes and choices

Technical session and security data help operate and protect the service. Internal audience counts help assess readership without linking a reader across days. Newsletter delivery requires a request and email confirmation; consent can be withdrawn through the unsubscribe link. Contact details are used to handle the request received. Applicable legal obligations and legitimate security interests may also require processing.

Providers and international services

Hosting, email and technical providers may process information to deliver the service. The site also loads Google Analytics; its requests are separate from our internal pseudonymous readership counts. We do not sell subscriber lists or pass them to editorial AI systems to profile readers. External links have their own privacy policies.

Retention

Detailed internal readership fingerprints and their first origin are removed after 90 days; aggregate article, date and source counts may be retained for historical comparison. Newsletter information is retained while active and, after unsubscribe, only as needed to respect the exclusion, document consent and meet applicable responsibilities. Security logs and sessions are retained for proportionate technical periods.

Your rights

Where applicable, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability, and withdraw consent. We may need proportionate information to verify the request. You may also complain to the competent data protection authority, including the ICO in the UK or the Data Protection Commission in Ireland.

Changes

We will update this page when the service’s processing changes materially. A new purpose requiring consent must not be treated as authorised by an earlier, unrelated request.
