Amazon pledges 30,000 UK entry-level jobs for young people by 2030
The company says its Youth Promise will also provide more than 10,000 work-experience placements and support young applicants through the recruitment process.
Amazon has announced a commitment to offer 30,000 entry-level roles to young people in the UK by 2030. Its Youth Promise also includes more than 10,000 work-experience places, expanded pre-employment support and recruitment events aimed at young jobseekers.
Amazon describes these as commitments under its Youth Promise; the figures are targets, not completed outcomes.
A long-term jobs commitment
Amazon says its Youth Promise will provide 30,000 entry-level roles for young people in the UK by 2030. The company says the opportunities are intended to reach young people from areas with fewer opportunities and that applicants will not need a CV or previous work experience for these roles.
Amazon describes the jobs as operational roles across its UK network, including work involving picking, packing and shipping. The announcement says the roles will start at more than £31,000 a year pro rata, with access to private medical insurance and a pension from the first day. These are terms stated for the announced roles, not a report of jobs already created.
Work experience and application support
The company also says it will provide more than 10,000 work-experience placements over the programme period, including one-week placements and projects for students. Amazon says the total will rise from around 900 places in 2026 to more than 3,000 a year by 2030.
Other measures described in the announcement include expanding pre-employment programmes, holding recruitment events for young jobseekers and providing practical guidance to young people aged 18 to 24 who apply unsuccessfully for a role. Amazon says its JOBS Project with Barnardo’s is intended to support 2,000 young people between 2027 and 2030.
