Dates and programme
The Southbank Centre has named FKA twigs as curator of Meltdown’s 32nd edition, scheduled for 10–20 June 2027 in London.
Meltdown is an annual festival first held in 1993, with a different cultural figure curating each edition. The Southbank Centre plans dozens of concerts across 11 days in 2027, alongside two weekends of free events and activities. The full line-up and details of FKA twigs’ headline show are due to be announced later in spring.
FKA twigs’ plans and recent work
FKA twigs said she was honoured and excited to curate the festival. She said she intended to bring to Meltdown the influences that have shaped her and to celebrate what she described as London’s diversity, freedom and creative energy.
Her albums Eusexua and Eusexua Afterglow were both released in 2025. The Southbank Centre describes her work as spanning music, performance, film and design, and says the festival will reflect the collaborative influences, genres and cultures that shape it.
Other 2027 season highlights
The Southbank Centre’s wider 2027 season includes Italian playwright Romeo Castellucci’s first London performance in 16 years, with his play Bros, and a performance by Chinese pianist Lang Lang.
Southbank Centre artistic director Mark Ball said he believes live, shared experiences can help address isolation and division, and that this belief is central to the venue’s 2027 season.
